In the time of uncertainty

Heavenly Father,

all streams flow into the sea, yet the sea is never full.

Your mercy is infinite as the sea and as the deepest ocean.

We praise you for being still patient with us despite our negligence.

We ask you to look at us

and help us to discover our dependence on each part of the creation.

Teach us to realize that our lives are connected to many parts of the world just as a river links many people together.

A river that carries

our drinking water and our sewage,

            container ships and microbes.

We confess that we throw so many dirty things into this water.

We fill the river with bottles, boxes, chemicals, personal and industrial waste, all the footprints of our technological society.

Forgive us our consumerism, our greediness, our destructive actions, and our apathy for the future.

Forgive us that we destroy the world that you created as good.

Forgive us that we ignore our neighbours and the next generations when we act selfishly.

Let us not repeat the same things that we did before this present pandemia,

give us the courage to let Christ change our lives,

and save us from our harmful lifestyle.

Today we are

            in the time of uncertainty,

in the time of keeping distance,

in the time of refraining from embrace.

The creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed.

Please make us your children, and help us be revealed!

In the name of Jesus, our Saviour, please listen our prayer,

Amen.
